DAVE & LAURA:

Dave & Laura were our very first official work campers, escaping the cold north to spend a couple of months with us here at Red Rooster RV. During their stay, they handled the morning feeding, collected eggs, and even knocked out several farm projects we’d been hoping to finish. They were a fantastic team—reliable, upbeat, and a huge help while we traveled. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our work‑camper program.

"The work required is very reasonable and it's very gratifying to work  closely with the livestock.  Scott is very accommodating and tailored our duties to our skill levels and abilities. The RV site is wide open and quiet with a nice dark sky.  The farm is close to Lake City which has shopping, restaurants and many churches. We have really enjoyed our time here with both Scott and Kay, who shared homemade baked goods with us! " ~Dave & Laura

RON:

Ron joined us for about four months and provided excellent care to Price Creek Farm and Red Rooster RV Park. He handled daily operations, cared for our animals, and supported our guests with reliability and genuine dedication. His hard work allowed us to step away knowing everything here was in capable hands.  Ron’s contribution made a meaningful difference to our farm, our guests, and our family. We are truly grateful for the time, effort, and heart he invested here.

"My Work Camping Experience: Red Rooster RV Park & Price Creek Farm

If you want a rewarding, hands-on experience where you learn a ton and work with truly wonderful people, I cannot recommend Scott and Kay’s 33-acre property enough. My time here was easily one of the most unique chapters of my RV journey, splitting days between a peaceful RV park and an active, regenerative farm.

The RV Side: Hosting at Red Rooster was incredibly low-stress and welcoming. The massive, 100-foot pull-through sites make it easy for guests to settle in, and the vibe is super relaxed. One of my favorite parts of the job was greeting new arrivals and presenting them with a carton of fresh farm eggs right as they checked in—a wonderful personal touch that always put a huge smile on their faces.

The Farm Side: This is where you get to dive headfirst into sustainable farming. The daily routine is an active, engaging way to spend your morning out in the fresh air, starting with feeding and watering the chickens, pigs, and rabbits. You also help move the mobile chicken coops to fresh pasture, collect eggs, and keep a regular headcount on the cows. It is incredibly fulfilling to be a part of the daily rhythm of the land.

The Best Part: Scott & Kay (and Scout!)

What truly sets this experience apart is the incredible hospitality and generosity of the hosts. From day one, Scott and Kay treat you like family, acting as patient mentors who eagerly share the why behind their sustainable methods. They genuinely care about your well-being and make sure you feel deeply valued and appreciated.

The farm family wouldn't be complete without mentioning their dog, Scout, who completely stole my heart. Scout was a constant source of joy around the property—always ready with a wagging tail, a loyal companion during chore rotations, and a sweet reminder of the warmth that fills this entire place.

While you definitely want a solid pair of work boots for the farm routines, leaving here gives you so much more than just a free campsite. I left with a deep appreciation for the land, wonderful new skills, and unforgettable memories with hosts—and a pup—who became true friends."
